GSE
GMFS is an European Space Agency (ESA) funded project. It
forms part of the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security
Services Element (GSE).
"GMFS aims to provide earth observation
based services and encourage partnerships in monitoring Food
Security and related environmental processes in Africa, by
concerting efforts to bring data and information providers
together, in order to assist stakeholders, nations and international
organizations to better implement their policies towards sustainable
development."
GMFS provides early warning, agricultural
mapping and crop yield assessment services in support
of food security monitoring activities in Africa. GMFS partners
with key actors in the sector at the international (EC and
UN), regional (Regional Economic Communities or key institutes)
and national level (Ministries of Agriculture or national
Food Security Monitoring groupings). At national level GMFS
Activities focus on .Ethiopia, Sudan, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and
Malawi. |
